Course categories

Assignments → Course Categories

Labels for transcripts and graduation (Math, English, Elective, …). Every course picks one. You can’t delete a category still in use by a course.

Unit test patterns

Assignments → Unit Test Patterns

Named groups with weights (e.g. Quiz 60, Final 40). Units use a pattern to turn tests into a unit average. Generate Defaults if you’re starting from scratch. Math, empty groups, and mid-year edits: Courses & gradebook.

Grade scale

Settings → Grade Scale

Maps percent → letter → GPA points (ordered by minimum percent). Report cards and transcripts use this when “Use Letter Grades” (and transcript GPA) are enabled. Changing the scale later changes how future PDFs convert percents; it does not rewrite stored numeric unit grades.

Report settings

Settings → Reports

Print details: Reports & transcripts.

Common questions

Can I change the grade scale mid-year?

Yes. Stored unit grades remain numeric percents. New PDFs with letter grades or GPA use the current scale. If you already printed report cards with old letters, re-print after the change for consistency—or leave the scale alone after the first issued cards.

Can I delete a category or pattern in use?

Categories used by courses and patterns used by units (or with grades) are blocked from hard delete. Archive or stop using them instead.

Report card and transcript settings differ—is that intentional?

Yes. You might show attendance on report cards but not transcripts, or use letters only on transcripts. Permanent record decimals follow the transcript decimal setting.

Where do I set hours for attendance on progress views?

Settings → Reports → Attendance → Hours Present Per Day. That multiplies present day counts; it does not create attendance marks.
