Setup wizard

In-app flow at /setup. Next validates the current step before continuing.

  1. Course categories (at least one)
  2. Unit test patterns
  3. At least one graded course with units
  4. No-grade courses (optional)
  5. At least one student
  6. School year with terms
  7. Year enrollments
  8. Course enrollments
  9. No-grade enrollments (optional)
  10. Finish → Test Scores

After the wizard: grade scale, report settings, staff under Users, and optional behavior/graduation when you need them.

Common questions

Do I have to finish every step?

Next validates the current step. Optional steps (no-grade courses/enrollments) can be skipped where the UI allows. You still need categories, patterns, a course with units, a student, a year with terms, and enrollments before meaningful grade entry.

Can I change setup after leaving the wizard?

Yes. Everything the wizard touches is available under Assignments, Years, Students, and Settings. The wizard is a guided path, not a one-time lock.

Where do edge cases live after setup?
